What Does a Health and Wellness Coach Actually Do for Moms?

When someone hears that I'm a health and wellness coach, I imagine a few things might come to mind.

Maybe someone who helps you create healthier routines, stay accountable, or finally make time for yourself.

And while those things can certainly be part of coaching, I think one of the most valuable parts is something people don't always expect.

I'm not here to tell you what to do.

I'm here to help you figure out what works for you.

That might sound simple, but there's actually quite a bit that goes into it.

You Don't Need to Have Something Wrong to Benefit From Coaching

Motherhood comes with a lot of change. Some of it happens overnight, while other changes unfold gradually as your children grow and your family enters different stages.

Along the way, your priorities, needs, and expectations may shift, too.

Maybe you've caught yourself thinking, "I just need to get more organized," or "Things will feel easier once we get through this stage."

Or maybe things are going well, but there's something you've been wanting to explore. A goal you've been thinking about, an interest you'd like to revisit, or simply a part of your life you'd like to give a little more attention.

You don't need to be struggling or facing a major transition to benefit from coaching.

Sometimes, it's about giving yourself the opportunity to think about things you haven't had the time or space to consider.

Coaching Isn't About Someone Else Having the Answers

One of the biggest misconceptions about coaching is that a coach provides the answers.

But the reality is, you're the expert on your own life.

You know your family, your responsibilities, your preferences, and your experiences better than anyone else.

My role is to help you explore those things in a different way.

That might mean asking questions that encourage you to look at a situation from another perspective, helping you recognize patterns you haven't noticed before, or exploring possibilities you might not have considered.

Because what works beautifully for one mom might not work for another.

And even something that worked for you a year ago might not make sense for your life today.

That's why coaching is collaborative.

You bring your experiences, ideas, and knowledge of your own life. I bring curiosity, thoughtful questions, and a supportive space to explore what's possible.

The goal isn't for you to leave a session with a list of things I think you should do.

It's for you to walk away with a better understanding of what feels right for you and how you might move forward.

Sometimes the Answer Isn't What You Initially Think

Let's say mornings have been feeling chaotic.

You're rushing to get everyone ready, something always takes longer than expected, and you start the day already frustrated.

Your first instinct might be that you need to wake up earlier or get better at preparing everything the night before.

And maybe one of those things would help.

But before jumping into another solution, I'd be curious about a few things.

What's actually making mornings difficult?

Is there a particular part of the routine that feels frustrating?

What would a better morning look like to you?

And what have you already tried?

Maybe you realize that mornings feel stressful because you're trying to accomplish too much before leaving the house.

Or maybe there's an expectation you've been holding onto about how mornings should look.

The answer might be a small adjustment to your routine. It might be changing an expectation. Or it might be something entirely different.

The point isn't to find the perfect morning routine.

It's to understand what you're actually trying to change before deciding how to change it.

Meaningful Change Doesn't Have to Be Drastic

I think we sometimes make change feel bigger than it needs to be.

We imagine completely new routines, major lifestyle adjustments, or a version of ourselves who somehow has more time and energy to do everything.

But meaningful change doesn't always require a complete overhaul.

Sometimes it's recognizing that something you've been doing out of habit no longer makes sense.

Sometimes it's making one small adjustment to how you approach your day.

And sometimes it's simply realizing that you have more options than you initially thought.

Those changes might seem small on the surface, but that doesn't mean they aren't meaningful.

What matters is whether they make a difference to you.

What Could You Explore Through Coaching?

There's no single reason a mom might decide to work with a health and wellness coach.

You might want to build healthier habits, explore your priorities, navigate a transition, or feel more intentional about how you're spending your time.

You might be thinking about a personal goal you've put aside or wondering whether something in your life could look a little different.

Or maybe you know you want something to change, but you haven't quite figured out what that something is.

That's okay, too.

You don't need to show up with a perfectly defined goal or a detailed plan.

Sometimes figuring out what you want is part of the process.

And sometimes the most valuable thing you gain from coaching isn't a new routine or habit. It's a different perspective, a clearer understanding of yourself, or more confidence in the decisions you're making.

Finding What Works for You

At Aventurine, I don't believe there's one right way to approach wellness or motherhood.

What feels supportive and realistic for one person might look completely different for someone else. And what works for you today may change as your life evolves.

That's why I believe it's worth getting curious about your own needs, priorities, and expectations rather than automatically reaching for the next piece of advice.

The next time you find yourself thinking, "I really need to change something," try asking yourself a different question before jumping into a solution.

What is it that I actually want to feel different?

You might be surprised by where that question takes you.
